"Open shell here"-extension for Konqueror / KDE ![[Leave a comment]](/gfx/comment.gif)
NOTE: the extension has been incorporated into KDE 3.1: this page is outdated unless you use versions 2.2 or 3.0.
To add a 4DOS/4NT style "Open shell here" extension (right-click on a directory in which you want to open a shell) to Konqueror,
- download shellhere.desktop
-
copy it either to
-
./kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/or -
corresponding system wide directory (in Debian it's, for KDE3 at least,
/usr/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/).
-
...or alternatively install konq-shellhere_1.0-1_all.deb if you are using Debian. (also available: package source)
It starts Konsole by default, but you can easily change the shell by editing the file. If anyone knows how to find out KDE default terminal emulator from a shell script, please tell me.
I've tried the script with Debian's KDE 2.2 and KDE 3.0 packages.

I hereby place the script in public domain. Feedback and improvement
suggestions are welcome.
